Description
Gigaopto’s GA-QSFP10-0P5M QSFP+ Active Optic Cables (AOCs) are direct-attach fiber assemblies with QSFP+ connectors for short-range multi-lane data communication and interconnect applications.
It integrates four data lanes in each direction with 40Gbps aggregate bandwidth. Each lane can operate at 10Gbps with lengths ranging from 0.5 to 150m.
The electrical interface uses a 38 contact edge type connector. The optical interface uses an 12 fiber MTP(MPO) connector.
A serial EEPROM in the transceiver allows the user to access transceiver monitoring and configuration data via the 2-wire QSFP Management Interface. This interface uses a single address, A0h, with a memory map divided into a lower and upper area. Basic digital diagnostic (DD) data is held in the lower area while specific data is held in a series of tables in the high memory area.
This 40G AOC is full compliant with IEEE 802.3, SFF-8431, SFF-8436, SFF-8438i and RoHS.

2. Can this optical cable be detached from the transceiver if I want to change the length? Can I buy a longer optic cable and reuse the transceiver?

One of the advantages of the AOC is that there is no need for repeated plugging and unplugging of module and patch cord, and no need to worry about the pollution of optical interface. It is convenient for management and maintenance with high stability and low cost. If it is detachable, these advantages do not exist, and the price will be much higher.
